All of us living and breathing belong to or are a part of something. It could be a civic group, a bible study, an extra curricular group, your church, your job, your family, friendships, your marriage, etc..

Woah, Brandi, you might be thinking! What in the world have you been eating? What point are you trying to make?

I was thinking again and wanted to point out that when you are a part of something; on purpose or accident, it’s a wonderful thing, and it can be a challenging thing, right?

We all go through ups and downs in this vapor we live called life, and unless you are under a rock living you are going to have the “goods and the bads”. Just as life is full of choices from what’s for breakfast, to whom will I marry? Bottom line, We have a choice on how we will handle…

Daniel Fast Day 15

Daniel Fast Day 15

The Spoken Word

“When He had said this, Jesus called out in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out.’ ” John 11:43

Devotional:   Jesus was so in tune with the will of the Father that He already knew in His heart the miracle that was about to take place, but His words spoke the miracle into existence.

[There is power in our spoken words, whether they are used to build up or tear down]  It is so important to keep our hears filled with the truth from God’s word so that our words will produce good fruit.

“The Key to praying with power is to be come the kind of persons who do not use God for our ends but are utterly devoted to being used for His Ends.”  John Piper

LUKE 11

Our words have so much power and we NEVER really realize how much.  We really need only to speak positive things about or to people, if we are to think mean things we need to just literally bite our tongues.

Jesus says that persistence is very important.  The things we need are available to us.  God hears us and will avenge us or also supply our needs.  The Friend that comes at midnight looking for bread for a friend who showed up.  The friend was in bed and didn’t want to get them anything.  However, God says ” though he will not rise and give to him because, he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.”

go to cross reference….. Persistent Widow…She asks for Justice from a city Judge, with no regard to man or to God.  However (don’t you just love the “Buts”, and “Howevers”?)  Luke 18:4 “Though I do not fear God, nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me.  I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.”  7) and shall God not avenge His own, who cry out day and night to Him?”

Persistence

Keep asking, Seeking, Knocking, 9) “ask and it will be given, to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.  11) If a son asks for bread from any father among you will he give him a stone?  13) if we being evil (sinful) know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. ”

28) “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.”

Be the light shining ” No one hides a lamp, they put it out so everyone can see the light.  Our words and what we do are light or darkness to the world.  It is up to us to be the light to people who need it.  We need to make sure that what our eye is around is what is full of light and not darkness.

When the eye is full of light, having no part of dark, the whole body will be full of light as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.

Am I giving off a light of darkness? Or are we truly full of light?

Daniel Fast Day 8

Day 8  (start of week 2)

Hear Him

“Word of God Speak\” Performed by Mercy Me.

All rights reserved (this is not owned by me)

(this song, came to mind as I began writing this blog, Please listen and let it minister to you)  I love the line that says ” the last thing I need, is to be heard, BUT to hear what YOU would say”   Man-oh-Man!  I need to let that lyric sink into my spirit.

So many times we have one-sided prayers.  We go into a conversation (prayer) with God saying everything we need and want to say, then instead of waiting on His response, we just stop talking and end the conversation.  How many relationships with friends and family would we have if all the conversations were as one-sided?  We wouldn’t have many, that’s for sure.

Today’s  Devotional Verse:  ” ‘This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.  Listen to him.'”and when they looked up Moses and Elijah were gone and they saw only Jesus.” Matthew 17:5, 8

Devotion:  they were on the mountain of Transfiguration.  Peter, James, and John hear the voice of God, but when they looked, only saw Jesus.  We will discover God by following Jesus. We need only to seek and look to Him.  Have you noticed that sometimes there are areas in our lives where we still try to earn our way to the Father.  I KNOW that I do.  It’s like I believe that some things I will never be good enough.

The thing is… I won’t!  On my own,  I will Never BE good enough for God.  None of us will.  That’s the reason why we have to go through Jesus.  He IS Good enough.  He was the only one Good enough to get us to God.  We had no other way.  We need to ask God for a greater revelation of Jesus in our heart.  Jesus gave all that He had.  He humbled himself to become a man and come to earth.  He knew He was the only way for our Salvation. He didn’t just come for the “religious/righteous” ones.  He came for anyone that would choose to believe.

Luke 5, The bible Reading for today shows us in verse 30) Jesus is complained against for eating with Tax Collectors and sinners.  31) Jesus says ” those who are well have no need for a physician, but those who are sick.  I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”  [ Jesus wasn’t waiting on anyone to get their life straight and be sin free]  He seeks out those who need redemption.  He doesn’t alienate himself from those that need restoration and require them to get cleaned up.

His loving arms are wide open, waiting, to accept you for who you are… right at that moment you run to Him.  Then, the cleaning up of your life will come from Him.

Oh… by the way.  The food I ate today.. was just more of the same except for two things.  I tried Polenta for the first time.  It’s like corn meal rolled up.  We sliced it and sautéed it in olive oil.  There may be a better way.  🙂  However, it was good.

The second thing that I discovered was  fruit “roll up” cousins.  I found them in the natural food section in Kroger.  They were like 55 cents a piece and they were really good.  I chose strawberry and grape.

Well, I am also finding that this is so much MORE about God and LESS about Food.  I mean,  I already “knew” this in my mind, but it has become a truth now discovered in my heart.

xoxo,
